Background
I was born
and brought up in Zambia, Central Africa and came to
Australia when I was 18 years old.
After gaining my
teaching qualifications, I taught for some years in
disadvantaged schools in Sydney and then completed post
graduate qualifications in Special Education and ESL. I
later trained as a Reading Recovery
teacher. During this time I
married, had a family and spent time teaching and
writing in Sydney and in Canberra, where I now
live.
